- Hello everyone.
-
- I decided to do my further contributions in a 'digested' form, i.e. I
- read everything at home, and compile everything into one or two large
- replies. So you can skip my rubbish with a single stroke on the
- 'd' key.

- Therefore, since ctrl-A and Mac-style blocking are a bad combination, and
- I like the Mac-style, then the solution is to remove ctrl-A.
-
- I suggest replace it the Shift-Ctrl-A. That's much less likely to hit,
- although, I suppose ones little finger could slip down a little and hit
- all three.
-
- Sounds good! Why not have Control A for deselect all (clear selection or
- hide block as Tim calls it) and Shift Control A for select all? After
- all, in a (control + key) and (shift + control + key) combination, the
- combi with SHIFT should be the 'stronger' one.
-
- I don't think one little finger is enough for pressing three keys, Tim.
-
- As to Shift + Backspace, UNDO should definitely provide help there. We
- must keep that.

- (Ofir's last proposal)
-
- We definitely need the reverse search next. Just the radio button isn't
- sufficient. It is annoying to have to open a dialog for that.
-
- Shift Ctrl Y for delete paragraph is word-processor dedicated. It
- shouldn't be part of a general standard. It'd be more orthogonal to let
- it mean 'cut line and append that to the copy buffer'. BTW, I also
- doubt the use of Shift Control C for 'copy and append to copy buffer'.
- Had that in Edith for a while, but it was more of a nuisance than
- useful.

- Actually, they do. They use the shift key held down while the arrow and
- other movement keys are used to select the area. Since we don't have the
- right keys on the Atari keyboard, we can't do this, although, I have
- thought of using the right shift key for this purpose.
-
- Right shift key---not a bad idea at all. However, some people very
- much like to be able to move pages up and down with just one hand,
- using the right shift key...

-
- As to the other 30 messages, my Zmodem fails to transfer more than
- 19K...
-
-
- O, and I apologize for the rude answer to Julian's arrogant note about
- Germany not being willing to implement any proposal. It just hit the
- wrong spot after I had just seen Ofir's second proposal taking over the
- Control U and Control W codes the 'German' way...
